Rising Early and Other Convicting Stuff

I don't know about you, but I find it difficult as a mom of 3 young boys, one who just started sleeping through the night, to rise earlier than my family and spend time in the Word. For one, I am not a morning person (ask my dear sweet husband) and, two, I love sleep. I remember when I first had Will I read in "The Excellent Wife" about how sleep can be an idol and I was very convicted. I am once again struggling to resist sleeping in, but today I was convicted in reading two perspectives. I have been reading some talks from the ladies at Covenant Life Church and especially enjoyed reading the "Rising Early" talk. She quoted John Piper:

"Entering the day without a serious meeting with God, over His Word and in prayer is like entering the battle without tending to your weapons. It's like taking a trip without filling the tires with air or the tank with gas. The human heart does not replenish itself with sleep. The body does, but not the heart. The spiritual air leaks from our tires, and the gas is consumed in the day. We replenish our hearts not with sleep, but with the Word of God and prayer."

I also have been reading "The Fruit of Her Hands" by Nancy Wilson. She said that if you read 10 chapters of the NT each day, you can have it completed in a month. She reads the whole NT every month. I really liked that idea and have started doing it in addition to where I'm reading in the OT.

Do you guys have any ideas for rising early and getting in the Word that have helped you?
