A Mother's List

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there, including my own mom, Dana, my mother-in-law, Paula, my grandmother, Mary Jean (I call her Gramm), my sister, Sarah, and my sister-in-law, Jenifer. These are all moms that I love and admire and am thankful for their influence in my own life.

For Mother's Day, I'd like to humbly offer my favorite mom things, things I couldn't live without as a mom. Every mom needs these:

  • Mr. Clean's Magic Erasers for wiping fingerprints, stains, and stickiness off the wall
  • The super-size box of goldfish for meals and anything in between
  • A "Babywise" structured day: for planning, for good sleepers, and for sanity!
  • The "Jesus Storybook Bible" for family devotionals, a Bible where every Bible story looks forward or back to Jesus
  • "Treasuring God in Our Traditions" by Noel Piper for ideas about incorporating the gospel in the daily life of a family
  • A great babysitter!! (aka Faith, Sherrie, or Marylyn)
  • When they were babies, I couldn't live without a sling, a pacifier, a swaddling blanket, and gas drops!
  • Hide 'Em In Your Heart songs by Steve Green
  • A DVR to record Curious George, Martha Speaks and other PBS shows for watching while I'm cooking dinner
  • A good washing machine (not to mention sheets and a comforter that are easily washable) and stain getter outer
  • Good mommy friends
  • ChikFila
  • Plastic bags for holding snacks, puzzles, toys, picnic lunches, medicine, and just about anything else
  • Time away to do something that is life-giving at least once a week, even for an hour or so
  • Date nights with the hubby
  • Resolve carpet cleaner
  • No aversions to human bodily fluids (and solids)
  • Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches
  • The mindset that children are blessings, not burdens
  • And, last but not least, a WONDERFUL husband and father for the kids
What are your "can't live withouts"?
