Three Years

These people are really special to me. They are the people--the planters--who have been at our church since the living room days. A few are missing from the picture and a few married into the living room group, but all are important and loved members of our team. Last night, we celebrated our church's third birthday by gathering, eating, laughing, and reminiscing about what God has done.

There are many other people--the waterers--who have become dear to us in these three years, who have linked arms with us in carrying out this vision that God gave us several years ago. For them, we are also so very thankful.

Next week, Kyle and I will make the trek to Texas to share with our supporters about this adventure of church planting. As we prepare and as we celebrated last night, I am enjoying reflecting on God's incredible faithfulness. This journey has not been without difficulty, but it has been worth it.

I love these people. I love this city. And I love our church.

He has given us a great gift by calling us to plant a church in Charlottesville, Virginia. And, as I have reflected on often in these days, He has provided the increase:

So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. (1 Corinthians 3:7)

My heart is full.
