Today I have the special treat of having both a pastor's wife and her husband joining me. My guests are D.A. and Elicia Horton. The Hortons are several years into planting Reach Fellowship in Long Beach, California. They have three kiddos and have together authored a book called Enter the Ring: Fighting Together for a Gospel-Saturated Marriage.
Because of their book and also their experience in ministry, I asked them to join me to talk about the effects of ministry on marriage. In our conversation, you’ll hear us talk about the blurred lines and sometimes unhealthy dynamics of marriage and ministry, how wives can support discouraged husbands, and how husbands must be proactive rather than reactive in helping their wives thrive. D.A. and Elicia pull no punches. In fact, they hit hard on how pride eventually hurts those in ministry, kills marriages, and leads to deep resentment toward the church.
In a few weeks, I’ll be recording my "Ask Me Anything" episode for this summer season that's focused on ministry. What questions do you have for me that you'd like me to tackle? You can submit them here.
